This video is the most important evidence of Sarah Palin's incompetence available because anyone watching can see that she is clearly in over her head, when asked a simple question any Daily Kos regular could answer:
This clip highlights her cluelessness in a way that is so perceptible, so visceral. She's really out of her league.
You really have to watch it to get the full impact, which is why some people who read transcripts of the interview may have initially missed this portion. But, the "deer in headlights" look is unmistakable, and her immediate recitation of our war against "Islamic extremism" is unquestionably disturbing. (The Bush Doctrine, as I understand it, is not directed AT Islamic extremism, but at the potential for terrorism, whatever the source may be.)
Digg It Please!
Please Rec this diary and let's get THIS video out there as THE defining moment of her Charlie Gibson lovefest.
From the Comments, this Interview has two Important takeaways:
- She is CLUELESS
- She's threatening the third World War.
Charlie: Do you agree with the Bush Doctrine?
Palin: In what respect, Charlie?
Charlie: What do you interpret it to be?
Palin: His worldview.
Charlie: No, No, the Bush Doctrine. He enunciated it in September 2002, before the Iraq War.
Palin: I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is to rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hellbent on destroying our nation. There have been blunders along the way, though. There have been mistakes made. And with new leadership--and that's the beauty of American elections and democracy--with new leadership comes the opportunity to do things better.
Charlie: The Bush Doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory defense. We have the right to preemptively strike any other country that we believe is going to attack us.
UPDATE: Thanks for the Rec's! For me, the most cringe-worthy moment is when she says "In what respect, Charlie", because she says it almost snidely. After watching it a few times, it may be that she finally got under his skin enough by condescending to him about something she didn't even know. When he answers by defining it for her, she can almost hear the irritation in his voice.
UPDATE x2: This clip is effective. The right-wing blogs are all a twitter with ham-handed attempts to deny that there is even such a thing as the Bush Doctrine. For laughs, check it out.
