Michelle Obama at Gary, Indiana: Photos and News

So I was able to attend tonight's rally at West Side High in Gary, Indiana and heard Michelle Obama give a rousing speech. I must say that I was very impressed with her and came away with the feeling that she's the real orator in the family. Her speech hit all the right notes: the absurdity of the media's elitism charges, the substance behind the change that Senator Obama is proposing, and their very impressive story of overcoming the odds through hard work to achieve what they have.
I hope Michelle's stump gets more play in the future as it really put to rest all of these stupid narratives floating around.
More News and Pictures below the fold:
Something of interest: Operation Chaos is in full-swing in Northwest Indiana. Some Republicans have taken to placing Hillary yard-signs, modified with an Operation Chaos print, in prominent areas of Schererville. Others were seen leafletting wearing Operation Chaos hats, apparently purchased from Rush's site.
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, from Illinois 9th district (home of the lakeshore liberals), met with canvassers and volunteers Saturday morning. She told a great story about her visit to the White House in 2002. Apparently she went to meet President Bush with some other Congressmen and decided to wear an Obama button on her lapel instead of an American flag. When she shook the President's hand, he shuddered at seeing her button, and gave her that "deer in the headlights" look he's become so famous for. She quickly told him it was Obama, not Osama, and he asked who that was. She said he was running for Senate, and he replied he had never heard of him, to which she retorted, "You will, Mr. President, trust me, you will."
